Innovative youth charity Snow-Camp plans to take even more young people to Les Deux Alpes to learn to ski and snowboard in 2008.
Following last year's Snow Camp, which took 60 young people to the French Alps, the charity, which aims to teach disadvantaged young people to ski and snowboard, is planning to take an extra 50 young people this April, indicating growing demand for the project.
The expansion will mean that more young people from urban estate environments will be able to experience the fantastic scenery of the Alps, whilst learning valuable life skills.
Also due to launch this summer is Snow-Camp London – a project in collaboration with Snowsport England – which will use dry and real snow slopes to teach 500 young people from disadvantaged inner city areas in London, chosen from a network of youth clubs, to ski and snowboard for the first time.
Dan Charlish, Snow-Camp director, said "This project will enable us to take the Snow-Camp idea and replicate it in this country, reaching many more young people." Following the project, 100 young people will spend a week in Les Deux Alpes next season.
The increase in numbers and development of Snow-Camp London has created a need for a lot more ski and snowboard gear. Many companies have offered their support already, but if you would like to get involved with kit provision or to make a donation please contact Dan Charlish on:
