Tuesday 30 June 2009
2009 marks 10 years of the Bike n’ Ride week which takes place in the world's largest ski area – The Three Valleys.

The event is designed to get everyone, even holidaymakers, out and about and on the saddle. The event kicks off this weekend with the famous 3 VTT race which takes place across all of the resorts over the weekend 5 – 6 July.

There is a free-bike derby competition that takes place on the Saturday. This 20km downhill run is open to any intermediate or expert riders. Although it is not a competition, bikers will be timed on the descent. The run starts from the top of Saulire at 2,600m to end in Brides-les-Bains at 600m. It’s very fast at the beginning, then slows down but becomes more technical, taking the riders through forests and villages.

On Sunday the main 3 VTT competition takes place. This 80km cross country tour takes riders around the stunning landscape of the 3 valleys. There is a start from each of the resorts.

The main Bike n’ Ride week starts on the Monday with mountain-biking, trial riding and road biking for all the family to get involved with. There is even mountain biking workshops for 9 to 15 year olds, and 3-day downhill training course for over 15 year olds.

The fun carries on into the evenings with live DJ’s in many of the resorts, giving the start of the summer season a real party atmosphere!
