It was snowing all across Europe over the weekend with resorts from Andorra to Andermatt receiving snow. The Ski Club’s four reported Andorran resorts all reported fresh snow on Saturday 30 January with 10cm received in the Vallnord resorts and 15cm in the Grandvalira ski area.
This created snow excellent conditions in Soldeu on Sunday 31 January. Snow started falling on Friday evening and continued throughout Saturday” said Ski Club Soldeu rep Rob Palmer. “The piste bashers have been hard at work throughout the night, but it just kept on snowing so there is great light powder everywhere.”
The Ski Club reps in Murren and Tignes were also treated to some great conditions over the weekend, with Tignes reps Dave Beecham and Roo Thorncroft reporting “Fantastic conditions with fresh powder” on Sunday whilst Murren rep Graham Thorn enjoyed “excellent powder skiing across the mountain” with members.
There is plenty of great skiing across France thanks to decent snowfalls over the last week accompanied by low temperatures and the picture is much the same in Switzerland, although resorts are experiencing lows of -12° with those higher up experiencing chills of up to -20°. Austria is also offering excellent riding conditions following a snowy weekend.
Elsewhere in Europe, Voss (Norway) received an impressive 20cm of fresh snow on Sunday 31 January and it also snowed in Italy and Germany over the weekend. Not to be outdone, Salen (Sweden), our reported Bulgarian resorts and four of Scotland’s five ski areas all reported snow on Monday.
