What can you do with 20 tons of snow?

This is the question 12 teams from six countries have answered in Breckenridge, Colorado at the 20th Annual International Snow Sculpting championships

The Ski Club’s rep in Breckenridge, Dan Habershon-Butcher, was at the event to witness 12 foot tall blocks of snow being transformed into intricate designs.
Power-tools are not allowed; everything must be sculpted by hand-power alone with approved tools. These include huge saws, pick-axes, chisels, hand-drills, shovels and much more besides.
Teams work daytime hours Tuesday to Thursday and are allowed to pull an all-nighter on the Friday ready for judging on Saturday.
Finally on Sunday, Team Lithuania was awarded the top spot for “Milite Est Vita”. The artists’ choice (and Ski Club rep Dan's favourite) went to the USA’s effort “The Last Iceberg” of a polar bear and Eskimo competing for a fish.
