Whistler has had 10m of cumulative snowfall so far this season

Whistler’s snow hit the headlines earlier this winter when November became the snowiest month since records began in the 1979/80 season. Now, the Olympic host resort has more big news reporting a mammoth 10m of cumulative snowfall since the season began.
The Canadian’s resort’s average snowfall is 10.13m, but it is unusual for the resort to reach 10m so early in the season. This winter is in fact only the second since 1990/91 that the cumulative snowfall exceeded 9m by the end of January, with the previous record set in the 2006/07 season when 945cm fell by 31 January.
“It’s fantastic to see Whistler reach 10m ahead of the Winter Olympics” said Ski Club snow reporter Ben Rowley, who has been watching the snow conditions at Whistler closely over the past week. “It really does seem like Whistler is on course to have an exceptional season all round”.
Ski Club PR Manager and qualified rep Betony Garner is currently repping in Whistler and had the following to report on Tuesday 2 February. "The massive snow base at Whistler means that the coverage is superb with nearly all the terrain open. Snow conditions up high are good with pockets of fresh snow still available in places".
