Garmin’s latest product is the wrist-worn, waterproof Foretrex 401 which is designed to provide skiers and boarders with the fundamental statistics for their day on the slopes – how high, how far and how fast.

Joining forces with 10 chalet operators around the Alps, Garmin has created test centres for the Foretrex 401, offering guests the opportunity to test-drive the GPS technology before uploading the day’s data, or ‘tracklog’, at Garmin Connect.

Guests will be able to review stats such as highest speed reached, total descent, total ascent, maximum elevation, total distance and more.

To foster the competitive spirit, Garmin has also created a season league table at www.garminsnowclub.co.uk where those that travel the fastest, the furthest, and make the greatest descent will top the leader board.

The victorious not only secure bragging rights for the year, but are then in with a chance of winning a week’s winter holiday at one of the Garmin Test Centres.

In addition, Garmin are also heading to The BRITS in Laax from 21-28 March for the Garmin Downhill Challenge. Throughout the week revellers will charge the slopes to register a fastest time to be displayed upon the Garmin Leader board positioned centre stage of the Apres Arena.

The Garmin Downhill Challenge complements the en-masse downhill at the end of the week, the Red Bull Homerun, which sees over 300 competitors racing simultaneously from the top of the mountain to the bottom. The winner of the Garmin Downhill Challenge will win a trip to The BRITS 2011 for the chance to defend their crown.

The Garmin Foretrex 401 is available for £199.99 in store or online at Snow+Rock and Ellis Brigham, where a purchase holds the added benefit of entry into the prize draw for an all expenses paid trip for two to The Brits 2010 Festival and the opportunity to take on the Garmin Downhill Challenge.
