The Winter X Games is making history this season with its first ever appearance in Europe in Tignes Val Claret. From 10-12 March the resort will transform into a world-class event venue hosting men’s and women’s ski and snowboard Slopestyle and SuperPipe competitions as well as Snowmobile demos.
The resort’s Half Pipe is being formed into an X Games-sized SuperPipe - 220m long, 18m wide and up to 6m high – for the three day event, whilst the Slopestyle action takes place over 600m on the "Double M" piste which will feature four rails and eight snow modules including a table top and big air.
Big names looking to make their mark at the Winter X Games Europe will include Aspen X Games Slopestyle winner and British hopeful Jenny Jones and the current TTR World Snowboard Tour leader Norwegian Lisa Wiik.
Eyes will also be on the homegrown talent which includes Kevin Rolland (Ski SuperPipe) and Mathieu Crepel (Snowboard SuperPipe) who will have the locals behind them in the Espace Killy resort.
The action kicks off on Wednesday 10 March with the Snowboard Slopestyle Women’s Warm Up and concludes on Friday 12 with the Snowboard SuperPipe Men’s Final. There will also be activities in the X Games Village and a chance to try out features in the X Park such as a wave box and air bag throughout the event.
