Latest BA and Unite talks collapse

British Airways is yet again facing the threat of strike after the latest talks with cabin crew union Unite failed to reach an agreement
As reported on Travel Trade website www.ttglive.com, talks between British Airways and Unite on Wednesday 10 March did not result in any agreement between the two parties, meaning a strike could take place as early as Thursday 18 March if announced today.
"Management's offer went nowhere near addressing our members' concerns" commented Unite in a statement following Wednesday’s talks.
The union is meeting today to discuss the consequences of what it termed a "breakdown" with the airline; however it added that "should BA wish to make an improved offer, they have time to do so".
Unite must give BA seven days notice if it intends to strike and, according to a statement from BA CEO Willie Walsh it must make a decision either way by 15 March. With the threat of strike looming Walsh confirmed that BA still wanted to "resolve the issues" with Unite but that it was also prepared for strike action.
"A strike will not ground British Airways" said Walsh. "We have had nearly 6,000 volunteers to support our flying programme, including nearly 1,000 who have trained as cabin crew and the number is growing".
