Emily Sarsfield wins the Ski Cross

After taking 6th place in the opening Europa Cup Ski Cross event on Friday 19 March, Ski Cross racer Emily Sarsfield went one better in Val Thorens on Saturday 20 March beating the competition to the gold position.
The result is an excellent achievement for the racer in a season in which she was not only coming back from injury but also suffered the disappointment of missing out on participating in Vancouver in the Ski Cross Olympic debut.
Sarsfield was also racing with a thumb injury sustained on the World Cup circuit in Grindelwald and had her hand in a cast for the Val Thorens events. Despite these setbacks Sarsfield came through strong on the course and was reportedly “stoked” with her win.
The Ski Club rider has a few stops left this season including the Swiss Championships before wrapping up her winter campaign by 28 March. Sarsfield then plans to addresses some niggling knee complaints and focus on building strength over the summer ready to attack the 2010/11 season head on.
