North America is certainly hitting the snow headlines this week with Vail the latest to enjoy the snow. The Colorado resort reported 48cm of fresh snow on the morning of Wednesday 6 April increasing their base level to the deepest it has been since the season began.
The snow dump is also largest the Ski Club rep resort resort has experienced all winter and the most recorded in 24-hours for Vail Mountain since the 2000/2001 season. The influx has allowed the resort to expand its operations for closing week, which runs until Sunday 18 April.
“Our pass holders have been waiting all season for the kind of conditions we’ve had in the last few days and will continue to have through next week” said Chris Jarnot, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Vail Mountain.
“Vail’s snowfall is already above the nine-year average for April” continued Jarnot. “With four feet of fresh snow in the last week alone, we’re thrilled to be able to change our plans and end the season with a bang”.
Vail’s snow dump means it has made the Ski Club's last snowed top 5 generated for 8 April. To see the rest of the top five or find out what has made the top fifty visit our snow reports section.
