Davos in Switzerland and Madonna di Campiglio in Italy are set for a great closing week after receiving 20cm and 22cm of fresh snow respectively on Sunday 18 April. The Swiss resort of Samnaun, which is scheduled to stay open until 2 May, also fared well receiving 25cm – the largest snowfall of the weekend.

Elsewhere in Europe there were dustings at Val d’Isere, France, on Saturday 17 April and at Klosters, Switzerland, and Livigno, Italy, on Sunday. The German resorts of Garmisch and Obersdorf both received 10cm of fresh snow on Saturday with equal levels received at Nendaz and Verbier in Switzerland on Sunday.

Pontresina, Italy, had 15cm on Sunday whilst Are, Sweden, reported 9cm. There was also snow in Scotland over the weekend – 3cm at Glencoe (closed until this weekend) on Saturday and 12cm at Cairngorm on Sunday creating “fabulous cover higher up” at the Aviemore-accessed resort.

The Colorado ski areas of Arapahoe Basin and Loveland where the only two of our reported North American resorts to receive fresh snow over the weekend with 5cm a piece reported on Sunday. Only four of our reported Canadian resorts remain open; Banff/Lake Louise/Sunshine, Whistler, Mont Sainte Anne and Whistler.

On Monday 19 April it is just Solden, Austria, flying the fresh snow flag after reporting 9cm. Resorts in Colorado and Utah should see the most snow this week whilst in Europe warm and sunnier weather should dominate.
