Each summer the LSERSA hold a series of dry slope slalom races open to members of affiliated clubs in the London & South East region which covers 22 snowsports clubs across London, Surrey, Sussex, Essex, Kent, Berkshire, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire.
Skiers of all ages from minis to seniors compete in nine different age categories with each event then run as a three-race slalom with results determined by the best time of the first two runs plus the time of the third run.
Those taking part can win individual event awards at each of the five summer series race dates or use points scored if placed first to ninth to aim for an overall prize at the end of the race series based on their three best performances.
Kicking off the summer race series on Saturday 8 May will be the Gosling Ski & Board Centre in Welwyn Garden City, where former LSERSA racer, Olympian and Ski Club sponsored rider Ed Drake will be presenting prizes for the day’s slalom racing.
The series – sponsored by Ski Bartlett, Aosta Valley and Snow+Rock – then moves to Bowles, Brentford and Bromley ski centres during May, June and July before the series closer in Aldershot on Sunday 3 October.
To find out more about the summer race series visit www.lsersa.org or tune into BBC Radio London at 7.35pm on Thursday 6 May for an interview with Ed Drake on the event. For more information on dry and real snow slopes across the UK, take a look at our UK Slopes Map.
