After a testing season for British Snowsports, the new governing body, British Ski & Snowboarding (BSS) have announced the names of the athletes who will represent Britain's Alpine challenge in the forthcoming season.
As well as some experienced faces such as Chemmy Alcott and Noel Baxter, there's also up and coming talent in Jai Geyer and
TJ Baldwin, a Ski Club sponsored skier.
There was another reason for Baldwin to celebrate, as he finished the 2009/10 as Great Britain's number one junior skier.
Talking to
BBC Radio Norwich, he was thrilled to move up to the next level. "I was in the junior team for three years and now I've moved up to the senior category. I'm really happy to be selected, that was one of my goals and was the next step forward".
Commenting on the team selection, BSS Chief Executive David Edwards said “this is an exciting group of athletes, and we will do everything we can to ensure they deliver great results in international competition. Each of these skiers has had to pass through a rigorous selection process, but what we’ve got now is a fantastic blend".
Ed Drake, another Ski Club sponsored skier, keeps his place after a solid Olympic debut in Whistler.
The full list of selected athletes is as follows:
Chemmy Alcott, TJ Baldwin, Noel Baxter, Dougie Crawford, Ed Drake, Jai Geyer, Jan Michael Kochalski, Andy Noble, Dave Ryding, Louise Thomas, Pam Thorburn.“There’s no doubt that British skiing has been through a difficult period recently" continued Edwards "and everybody connected with the sport is aware of the need to look ahead to a brighter future. With this squad, I hope that’s exactly what we’ve got".
