As snowsports fans look forward to the return of the ski train in December, Eurostar is building up to the launch of the first ever Tri-City-Athlon on 14 September featuring a swim in Paris, bike ride in Brussels and run in London.
The unique triathlon includes a 1.5km swim in Paris after which participants transfer from the Gare du Nord to Brussels-Midi/Zuid by Eurostar for a 40km bike ride in the Belgian capital. The final stage of the event, a 10km run in London’s Regent Park, is reached via a second Eurostar trip to St Pancras International.
Applications for the event can be made online at www.eurostartricityathlon.com until 9 June after which the top 50 most popular entries, voted for by the public, are whittled down to a final 20 by a panel of judges. The event winner is the triathlete who achieves the shortest overall time across all three legs.
If you would like to swap your snowsports gear for lycra this summer then enter the Tri-City-Athlon by 9 June. If triathlons aren’t for you then you can still be involved by casting your vote to count towards the final 50.
The Eurostar ski train operates day and night trains from 19 December 2010 to 16 April 2011 from St Pancras International and Ashford International to Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne or Bourg-St-Maurice. Watch this space for details of when tickets go on sale.
