Intrawest, which owns Olympic host resort Whistler Blackcomb, has decreased its resort portfolio to seven following the sale of Mountain Creek in New Jersey.
The sale follows that of Panorama, British Columbia, in January this year and Copper Mountain, Colorado, in November 2009. The company also let go its interests in Arc 1950 and Flaine in August 2009.
Mountain Creek has been purchased by nearby golf and spa destination Crystal Springs Resort, together creating what owners hope will be New Jersey’s “largest and most comprehensive four-season resort destination”.
Intrawest still retains full or part ownership of seven ski areas; Whistler, Mont Tremblant and Blue Mountain in Canada as well as Stratton, Snowshoe, Steamboat and Winter Park in the USA.
The company had previously announced a successful refinancing of its corporate debt which was due in December 2009. Intrawest now has a new loan which is due to mature in 2014.
