Valle Nevado, in Chile’s Three Valleys ski area, could arguably offer snowsports fans the best possible place to be when asked the question “where are you?” after creating a piste whose name translates as I’m in a Meeting.
The resort, which claims to have selected the names for two new lifts and five slopes in “the spirit of entertainment”, will also be offering snowsports on slopes called Bye Smog and Full Speed Ahead during the 2010 season.
The quirkily named slopes are not however the first to be given interesting names. Aspen’s Highlands ski area includes the parallel black runs Why and Why Not whilst Whistler has a green run called the Burnt Stew Trail.
Famous skiers and snowboarders also crop up – Lindsey’s run in Vail was renamed in honour of local Lindsey Vonn following the 2010 Vancouver Olympics whilst Moe-Mentum in Big Mountain refers to American ski racer Tommy Moe.
But what are your favourites? As visitors to Valle Nevado prepare for board meetings on the snow, we’d like to know what your favourite resort piste and lift names are. Simply email news@skiclub.co.uk and we’ll reveal your funniest and quirkiest submissions!
