Les Deux Alpes, which boasts one of Europe’s largest glaciers, got its summer season underway this morning opening all but two slopes and two lifts on the glacier and all the features in the snow park bar the half pipe.
Operations on the glacier, which lies at 3200m, are scheduled to run until 28 August with lifts open from 7.15am until 12.30 daily to allow visitors to make the most of the conditions.
Swiftly following the glacier opening, Les Deux Alpes will be welcoming the 2010 edition of the Mondial du VTT, a four-day mountain bike festival taking place from 17 June that includes a Cross Country race from 2600m to village level.
Les Deux Alpes will be joined by fellow French summer snowsports resorts Tignes and Val d’Isere on Saturday 19 June, further increasing the European contingent which includes the Dachstein Glacier and Hintertux in Austria, Zermatt in Switzerland and the Presena Glacier in Italy.
