Following the ahead of schedule opening of Turoa on New Zealand’s North Island this week, the South Island resorts of Coronet Peak and Mount Hutt will be joined by The Remarkables on Saturday 19 June as well as Mt Lyford, which opens on Friday 18 June.
This year will be a landmark one for The Remarkables as it celebrates its 25th season. Thanks to a snowbase of up to 80cm on the upper slopes, all the terrain will be accessible on opening day when lifts open from 9am.
Saturday 19 June will also see the opening of Mount Dobson, regarded as New Zealand’s highest ski field, however the weekend is just a winter preview for the resort which will not be open on weekdays until the season begins in earnest from 26 June.
