Thursday 15 July proved to be a fruitful day for our reported Australian resorts with the first big dump of the season bringing up to 33cm of fresh snow to help refresh conditions across resorts.
Falls Creek was the lucky resort to receive 33cm whilst Perisher, Selwyn Snowfields and Thredbo also had 30cm a piece. Mount Baw Baw, Mount Hotham and Mount Buller also received as much as 25cm each.
According to reports from the resort, Perisher is looking forward to its “best weekend so far this season” and with plans to open the Guthega ski area will be offering visitors the most open skiable terrain in Australia.
Meanwhile Mount Buller is looking forward to welcoming even more visitors following the recent snow. The resort has reported over 76,000 visitors since opening this year – a 36% increase on the 10 year average for this point in the season.
In other snow news... Despite being the only Chilean resort to report any fresh snow this week La Parva in the Three Valleys ski area more than made up for it, reporting half a metre of fresh snow on Wednesday 14 July.
