Ambassadors - how they'll be really spoiling us

Our team of Ambassadors are already in situ, looking forward to meeting Ski Club members as the season kicks off and we all start to get out into the snow. So we thought it was about time to let you know a bit more about the new Ambassador service.


Anyone who's been keeping up with the news on this matter will know that social skiing is hanging in the balance in France as courts work out the finer details.

Because of this we've launched an Ambassador service in the 11 French resorts that we cover, temporarily replacing the Leader service. These Ambassadors - all chosen for their in-depth knowledge and experience of their resorts - will be on hand for you, and we hope that you'll make the most of them while you're in resort. Here's what they can do.

How do I meet my Ambassador?
Ambassadors will meet you in resort. Let's say you were in Val Thorens this week (ah, wouldn't that be nice?). All you need to do is check this page before you go, and you'll see on the right-hand side that your leader will be at the Place de Caron, by the skidoos, at 9.30am on Sunday. This information will change so that you can see where they'll be each morning, or if you won't have internet access while abroad you can also take their phone number and call or text to find out where they'll be.

How will they advise me on the resort's best skiing?
Once you've met up with your Ambassador, they'll be able to advise you on where the best skiing is for the time of year, the snow conditions and your skiing level. If you want to ski with other members, they'll be able to put you into groups of a similar level. No one is turned away! They can suggest a full itinerary, including lunch-stop suggestions and an apres option, or just give you a general idea - whichever you prefer.

And if I want to go off-piste?
If you want to head off-piste, they're able to lend you a free transceiver for the day (these need to be organised in advance - call the ambassador number 0845 45 807 83 or email to find out more). Your Ambassador will also be able to organise days out with mountain guides.

What about showing me around the town?
If you prefer to meet up socially in the evening, Ambassadors do that too. Each resort's Ambassador page also shows you a time and place for the social hour, when the Ambassador and other members in resort will be having a pre-dinner beer or hot chocolate, discussing the day's skiing, planning the evening, and generally making new friends.

The Ambassador pages also have information on which Ambassador will be in resort when you are there - a little about their ski experience, a photo so you can recognise them (they'll also be in bright Ski Club branded outfits). There's also some fun information on them - their favourite run, favourite bar, apres drink of choice, and what they ski on. You can also see where else they have been a Leader or Ambassador, and some of them also run Freshtracks holidays throughout the season. What better way to get information for your next holiday destination?

There's a full briefing on the issue of social skiing here. We have suspended the Leader service because the Ski Club will only ever operate its Ski Club Leader programme in the knowledge that it is fully compliant with local laws within any of the countries. This change is only temporary, and will only impact on the Leader services in French resorts. The Ski Club Leader service remains unchanged at our resorts in Andorra, Austria, Italy, North America and Switzerland.
