Chase the powder all the way to the Alps with Freshtracks
All these reports of fresh snow got you itching to get out to the mountains?
Recent snowfalls have improved conditions no end with resorts all over the Alps reporting deep new layers of powder. If you were waiting for the snow to arrive to book your off piste adventure, then your time has come. Although you wont be alone in chasing the new snow to the mountains, Ski Club Freshtracks ensures you beat the crowds and find your own mountain adventure.
We sit down with Katy Ellis, Sales and Operations Manager at Freshtracks, to find out where best to get your powder fix this season...
Off Piste Weekend (La Grave, France), February 23 - 27
Few places resonate with off piste aficionados like La Grave. Even the name of this sleepy little 12th centaury sends tingles down the back of a powderhouds neck - this is off piste paradise. To the top of the Dome de la Lauze at 3550m there is only one way up, via a rickety old gondola, but there are a million ways down. This is one of the largest lift accessed areas of backcountry skiing in the world and so a guide here is essential. Explore this mountain playground over a long weekend with our local mountain guides and come and explore this legendary area for yourself.
Adelboden Off Piste Adventure (Adelboden, Switzerland), February 25 - March 04
Surrounded by beautiful scenery at the end of the Engstligenalp valley in the middle of the Bernese Oberland lies the charming resort of Adelboden, the home to this Peak Experience holiday. After a day warming up with a Ski Club Leader you’ll have barely scratched the surface of this vast and varied ski area. From day two, our local guides Christian Wäfler and Hans Hostettler take over. They’ve been a hit with our exploration groups and will take you to the best snow and hidden powder stashes that only the locals know about. After a tough day’s off piste skiing, rest and recuperate in 4* Hotel Beausite’s sauna and hot tub, ready for another day of powder!
Slovakian Ski & Spa (Jansa, Slovakia), March 05 - 12
Have you ever thought of skiing Slovakia before? There are so many reason why you should visit this spectacular destination. Jasna boasts 12 dedicated freeride zones, all within the safety of a “North American-esque” environment, ranging from the easier, safer lines through to steep challenging couloirs. During the week there’s barely a soul to be seen on the mountain, leaving the powder all to you, and after a hard day skiing what better way to relax than in the spa. Indoor or outdoor jacuzzi? Finnish sauna or aromatherapy steam? These are the taxing dilemmas you'll face on this trip!
Still not sold on Slovakia? Our video team headed there last season to explore the country more.
Trois Vallées Off Piste (Meribel, France), March 05 - 12
Go big or go home. And there’s no resort bigger than the Trois Vallées. You will be in a prime location to sample an abundance of quality of lift-served terrain. Under the guidance of mountain guides and instructors seek out and discover the off piste potential the area has on offer. For those who are keen to cover as much mileage as possible without taking the same runs repeatedly this is the resort for you. You will have six full days with your guide/instructor to get as much snow under your skis as possible.
Nendaz Adventure (Nendaz, Switzerland), March 09 - 13
You’ll be hard pushed to cover everything the “4 Vallées” has to offer in 4 just days. However, skiing with a Ski Club Leader is one of the best ways to get close. In the huge area that covers Verbier, Mont Fort, La Tzoumaz and Bruson the options available are virtually endless. With an excellent snow record and vast variety in terrain you can cruise the blues, take on the challenging reds or head toward one of the resort’s famous off piste itineraries. Just a short transfer from the airport, Nendaz is the perfect weekend destination to maximise skiing across a long weekend.
