Summer in the Mountains with Mountain Tracks

Winter may be on the way out, but you don't need the mountains to be under snow to enjoy them.

Although it is still snowing in the Alps (for now), unfortunately annoyingly very few lifts are still turning, just our luck! It’s not all doom and gloom though, we don’t need lifts, or snow for that matter, to enjoy the mountains. Boasting a range of summer trips to suit all ability levels, the newest addition to the Ski Club family has you covered. Whether you are a seasoned mountaineer or you are a hill walker looking to take the next step Mountain Tracks has a trip for you.

We sat down with Mountain Tracks’ Chris and Dan to get their top suggestions for enjoying the mountains in the summer...

Alpine Skills Introduction (Chamonix, France)

Learn Alpine Skills in the Alps

This alpine mountaineering skills course focuses on training in the alpine mountaineering skills necessary for safe ascents of lower grade peaks. The format used is very much ‘learn as you climb’, meaning you spend maximum time on the hill. Every day will provide a new mountain experience and with it, a large array of new, interesting alpine mountaineering techniques, all leading to the ascent of Gran Paradiso (4061m.).

There’s no better place to get a taste for bagging high altitude peaks than in the home of mountaineering: Chamonix.

Alpine Skills Weekend (North Wales & Cairngorms)

Learn Alpine Skills in the UK

So, you’re a hill walker but have always wondered about pushing yourself to the next level, but never quite been sure where to start? Maybe you are an active family or group looking for a long weekend away in the hills and want to learn some new skills? Either way this brand-new course is for you.

The International Mountain Guide run courses, taking place in locations in around the UK are the perfect introduction into the world of mountaineering teaching you the foundation skills required to progress to more challenging peaks. And the best part: You don’t have to travel to a faraway mountain range!

Bochette Way Via Ferrate (Madonna Di Campiglio, Italy)

Mountain Goats

The Via delle Bocchetta or ‘Bocchette Way’ is one of the great mountain journeys of the Alps - an epic hut-to-hut traverse of the main Brenta range taking you through some of the most spectacular rock scenery in the Dolomites.

Millions of years of steady erosion have created narrow natural ledges unique to these mountains. The use of these ledges as routes for non-climbers to journey through the mountains goes back to the 1930s when groups of local climbers and enthusiasts first started to install the ladders, rails, bridges and ropes thus creating a path through the needles, spires and gorges through these wonderful mountains.

Rated as one of The Daily Telegraphs Ultimate 50 Adventures, this epic adventure is one not to be missed!

Classic Haute Route (Chamonix, France)

Classic

The Summer Haute Route trail is one of the world's great multi-day treks and is featured in National Geographic's top ten worldwide treks.

The Haute Route trail provides some of the finest views in the Alps, stretching from Mont Blanc to the Grand Paradiso. The 'Classic' summer Haute Route trail takes to the glaciers, as opposed to the walker's summer Haute Route which stays at lower levels. The trail links two world-renowned alpine mountaineering centres; Chamonix, in France, and Zermatt in Switzerland. The route features the greatest concentration of 4,000m peaks in the Alps, creating the unique vistas and breathtaking alpine scenery which makes the summer Haute Route trail so famous worldwide.

Mont Blanc Climber (Chamonix, France)

Climb Europes Tallest Peak

Climbing Mont Blanc is a classic mountaineering challenge and our 6-day guided programme led by our team of IFMGA Mountain Guides is designed to give you a great week's climbing culminating in the ascent to the summit of Mont Blanc. We have over 30 years of combined experience climbing Mont Blanc with clients and will ensure your Mont Blanc adventure is one to remember!

The spectacular scenery and final exposed summit ridge makes this the finest snow route in the Alps and worthy of its prestige!
