Chamonix - the Freshtracks way

Chalet Freshtracks Chamonix

We are really excited to announce that we are expanding our chalet programme to Chamonix this season. We already have an existing ski programme in the resort, and we hope that the new chalet will add more choice and value to our members.

For those familiar with our chalet in Flaine, our new property in Chamonix will run in a similar way. A very warm welcome, delicious food and comfortable accommodation.

The Chalet

Chalet Shiraz offers an excellent level of comfort. We have five twin/double rooms with ensuite bathrooms for twin occupancy, and two rooms for sole occupancy, one with shared facilities.  They are spread over three levels, and there is a large lounge and dining area with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy their delicious food and drinks. The chalet also offers Wi-Fi and Sky TV.

Chalet Shiraz is located in a quiet location near the village of Les Houches – a great base from which to explore the entire Chamonix ski area. There will be a Freshtracks minibus and of course a Ski Club Leader to drive it. On the days with guides, you will all meet at the chalet and set off to that day’s chosen destination.

See below for the chalet's floorplans, or click here to view them in a larger format.

The Resort

Chamonix is perhaps the world's most famous off piste destination. With its reputation as a freeride mecca, Chamonix attracts mountain guides and backcountry addicts from around the globe, both to visit and to settle. It’s an area that’s impossible to get bored of, with new challenges each day from powder bowls to demanding couloirs and impressive glacial routes in dramatic scenery.

And the best way to experience this legendary terrain? With Freshtracks of course!

Our holidays offer:

•    The best mountain guides to find you the best snow

•    Exclusive use of Freshtracks minibus

•    Comfortable accommodation in our lovely new chalet

The Chamonix lift system consists of several distinct and very different ski areas high above a steep-sided valley where the town and its villages are located. From one day to the next you can explore the resort’s different ski areas: Brévent & Flégère, Les Grands Montets, Le Tour & Vallorcine (Domaine de Balme), L'Aiguille du Midi / La Vallée Blanche and Les Houches. And if that wasn’t enough, the Chamonix Mont-Blanc lift pass extends over to Courmayeur and even Verbier!

All these different areas could prove a challenge if it wasn’t for our minibus to ferry you around. So no need to check bus times and walk to and from stops and lifts - we’ll collect you from the chalet door and take you straight to whichever area you’re skiing that day.

These adventure weeks will explore the furthest reaches of the ski areas in the Chamonix Mont-Blanc valley. The first day will be a free ski day (destination and lunch stop organised by the Leader) to acclimatise you to the surroundings, check kit and get your legs geared up for the challenges ahead. The mountain guides we work with in Chamonix are second to none - each has their own style and specialities and all are true experts on the area.

The Chamonix On-Snow Experience

We’ve been running off piste holidays in Chamonix for years, so having our own chalet for the whole season now gives us the chance to develop our holidays here and offer more experiences to more members. We have five different holiday types that cater for our different skier profiles. Starting off with our new All Mountain Development weeks – with intensive coaching for those that want to learn and improve across the full gamut of terrain and techniques – through to the more focused off piste and ski touring weeks.

All of our weeks will run to the same formula (except for our Mont Blanc Exploration). A warm up/free ski day on Sunday – normally in Les Houches where the chalet is based but dependent on conditions – followed by five days with mountain guides and/or instructors in maximum groups sizes of six.

Our mountain guides: regulars will recognise most of the names featured here as we have worked with all of these guides for many years and people keep returning for more. All hold the highest level of professional qualification and offer the perfect mix of safety, knowledge and personality.

Our instructors: taking charge of our new All Mountain Development Week is Rachel Kerr. A dedicated sportswoman and skier, native Scot and now Chamonix local, Rachel will provide the technical points, skills and the confidence to help you progress in both your on and off piste skiing.

All Mountain Development:  For good skiers looking to really improve their technique across the whole mountain, with time spent both on and off the piste.

Off Piste Improvement: For off piste skiers looking to improve. A full on week exploring the whole area with plenty of tips along the way to help you improve.

Off Piste Adventure: For experienced off piste skiers looking to get more miles under their feet and experience all that this incredible area has to offer.

Pure Gold: For expert skiers only! This week is for fit, adventurous skiers looking for challenging terrain and a pace to match. Maximum group size of five.

Chamonix Safari: For experienced off piste skiers that are looking for an all-encompassing week, including avalanche awareness and an introduction to ski touring, including a night in a mountain hut. Max 1-2 hour climbs.

Chamonix Exploration: For experienced off piste skiers with some ski touring experience that are looking to get further off the beaten track. Max 1-3 hour climbs.
