Touring is about getting away from it all, including the pistes and even life's creature comforts. You will stay in mountain huts and spend your days climbing on skins through varying types of snow and skiing some wonderful, deserted descents too, accompanied by fully qualified mountain guides.
For intrepid people who long to duck under the rope and experience a no-limits retreat into the wilderness, miles from the lights and liveliness of a ski resort. You must be very fit as you are likely to experience all types of snow conditions.
You will never feel more alive or invigorated than when you stand at the top of a spectacular mountain, breathtaking scenery laid out before you in every direction, miles from anywhere, bathed in silence. Sharing a great sense of adventure and camaraderie with the group, safe in the knowledge that you are guided by experts, there is no better way to journey so deep into the mountains.
This zone encompasses three categories of trip all involving the use of touring equipment to access exciting and untracked terrain:
Explorations – these are day tours and the group is based in one hotel for the whole trip. Delve into the mountains with your guide on a mission to search out virgin powder - making fresh tracks galore!
Safaris – staying each night in different small hotels and occasionally in mountain huts, the emphasis is on the skiing. Lifts are used where possible to minimise climbing, but many of you will also use skins to reach magnificent viewpoints and open up huge areas of otherwise inaccessible skiing.
Tours -The emphasis is on getting away from it all, venturing deep into the solitude of the mountains. Experience the unique atmosphere in huts where you will find few luxuries apart. A typical tour will take you across a whole range of peaks, skinning up and skiing down into valleys. You need to ski to a minimum standard of silver+ off piste, be able climb on skins and do uphill kick turns.
