Really a town and a resort joined by a sprawling lift system, Flims-Laax is a popular destination among local Swiss and snowboarders from around the world. Relatively unknown to UK skiers, although the great terrain and a forward-thinking party scene will change that.
Or Flims-Laax-Falera to give it the full title, even if most refer to it simply as 'Laax'. Yes, this is an example of three different places that have been linked by a lift system and then somewhat uncomfortably lumped together as one place. In reality, it is likely that you'll find yourself staying in either Laax or Flims. Of the two, Laax is little more than a base station with hotels and some apartments, although there has been expansion in recent years which has given it a more lively atmospehere. Flims is larger and more villagey. Despite this, we prefer Laax for the ease of getting up the mountain and its better resort feel. Falera is more suitable for couples and small families.
