Ski Resort Guide: La Plagne

La Plagne: Intro

Ski Club rep in resort
Extensive, uncrowded pistes, high altitude riding and access to the Paradiski area - La Plagne has a huge amount going for it. Just don't expect great architecture.
Glacier (credit: La Plagne Tourist Office: M Foriel)
La Plagne actually consists of 10 villages, each linked by roads, lifts and pistes and varying markedly in terms of altitude, attractiveness and services. Sleepy, more traditional villages like Montchavin and Les Coches sit lower down the mountain, while the bigger, more functional and decidedly uglier towns of Plagne Centre, Bellecôte and Aime-la-Plagne are located around 2000m and provide excellent access to the almost endless terrain.
Pros
  • Huge area.
  • Uncrowded compared to Les Arcs.
  • Great for beginners.
Cons
  • Architecture leaves something to be desired.
  • Might be too easy for some advanced skiers.
