Megève is heaven for skiers who like to change the scenery on the mountain every day before being looked after in five-star style every evening.
Megève might not be so popular as it was in its heyday in the 1960s, overshadowed as it is by nearby Chamonix and La Clusaz, but it is still a classic example of a mid-Alps French resort. The centre oozes French charm, with deserted streets wrapped around the quaintest town square you'll ever see, and a predominance of upmarket clothes shops and restaurants. Although it might be a little quiet at times, there's a wealth of events and activities to keep visitors happy.
- Plenty of events.
- Close to other major resorts.
- Short transfer time.

- Skiing isn’t the priority in Megève, which can be quite frustrating if you want the snow-loving atmosphere.
- It’s not that cheap, especially if you’re staying in a chalet.
