Treble Cone
Relaxed, friendly and laid-back, Wanaka is Queenstown’s little sister and accesses the resorts of Treble Cone and Cardrona.
Wanaka is the resort base for Treble Cone, Snow Park and Cardrona. Compared to Queenstown, a couple of hours down the road, Wanaka has a sleepy, frontier town feel. It's possible to walk around the centre in five minutes, and this somnolent feel extends to its surroundings, nestled up against Lake Wanaka with the wilds of the South Island on its doorstep. It might only be a matter of time before it succumbs to the commercialization of Queenstown, but for now it is a homely, rootsy alternative.
