Huge amounts of varied terrain, coupled with new investment, means this popular French resort is re-establishing itself as a major player.
Les Arcs consists of several villages, all located at different levels. Starting down the mountain, the valley town of Bourg Saint Maurice is linked to the mountain via a quick funicular ride and also to the other towns of 1600, 1800, 1950 and 2000. On either side, the villages of Vallandry and Villaroger, plus other small hamlets, make up Les Arcs. The newest resort is 1950, which architecturally appears to have been parachuted in from Whistler or another Intrawest resort. Still, each resort has its own individual feel, is well serviced and, most importantly, gives easy access to the incredible terrain on offer at Les Arcs.
