Baqueira-Beret, in the heart of the Pyrenees, enjoyed its moment in the sun as 'the place where the Beckhams go skiing' while David was plying his trade at Real Madrid. But don't let that put you off. Instead, think of it as one of Europe's best-kept secrets, where the night-time pursuits are of a classier bent, the tapas is cheap and plentiful and there is a huge, oversized Pacha nightclub should you feel the need to enjoy a sizeable night out. This resort has been developing at quite a rate recently, but this is being subtly handled.
