Ski Resort Guide: Les Diablerets

Les Diablerets: Intro

Inordinately pretty Swiss village safeguards surprisingly large and varied ski area.
Just an hour or so's drive from Geneva, French-speaking Les Diablerets is the type of cloyingly lovely resort for which descriptions such as 'chocolate box' were invented. With very few English-speakers in evidence, it is extremely popular with local Swiss who like the unchanged atmosphere of the town, while the enormous glacier that overlooks the town adds muscle to the entire Alpes Vaudoises region and attracts skiers the year round. For anybody looking for an untouched Swiss gem with a short transfer time, Les Diablerets must be a serious contender.
Pros
  • Snow all but guaranteed thanks to the glacier.
  • Great for intermediates and families.
  • Winter wonderland feel.
Cons
  • Nightlife limited.
  • A lot of drag lifts means it's not that suited for complete beginners.
  • Main winter season ends early.
