Mayrhofen
Mayrhofen: mountain
Mayrhofen sits between two mountains: the small Ahorn and Penken. Ahorn has snow-sure nursery runs at the top and one long red top-to-bottom run while Penken has a bit of everything. To reach the Penken slopes you have to take the gondola from one end of town (think queues) or bus it to the gondolas at Hippach and Finkenburg (think more queues). With the exception of two ski routes to Hippach and Finkenburg, the only way to get off the mountain is by gondola (think queues at 1500). You've been warned. Advanced skiers should invest in a Zillertal SuperSki Pass to access some 500km more terrain.
