Sierra Nevada: mountain
Sierra Nevada has the geographical benefits of being one of Europe’s highest resorts. While it is also Europe’s sunniest resort, the altitude and Mediterranean humidity create a greater guarantee of snowfall than many of its lower-altitude counterparts. When the snow doesn’t fall as expected, the advanced snowmaking installation is activated; it has proved its worth on more than a few occasions. The skiing is spread over three main areas: Borreguiles (including Veleta, Rio and Parador); Laguna de las Yeguas; and Lomar de Dilar. While Lomar de Dilar and Laguna are areas in their own right, Borreguiles forms the central hub of the resort.
