Argentiere
Argentiere: reviews
- Owen (20 April 2010)
Just returned from an excellent week skiing, staying in Argentiere. Stayed at Grand Montets hotel which was excellent. Only down side was no restaurant there, so had to go into Argentiere itself to eat.
Had fresh snow for the first couple of days and then glorious sunshine for rest of the week. The slopes at Argentiere were good, not as long as in some places but the reds and blacks were excellent. Would not recommend for beginners. Made use of the Mont Blanc unlimited lift pass to have a day in Courmayeur and a day in Verbier as well as visiting Le Tour, Les Houches and Brevant-Flegere. Brevant-Flegere was fine but given its south facing position got slushy very quickly so only did half a day and decided to go on a walk the second half. Les Houches was possibly the best area with long runs, especially a great red on the St Gervais side where you could see the length of the valley, as well as nicer places to eat and drink. To eat would definitely recommend Le Carnotzet for Fondue and Raclette. This is the opinion of a skiclub.co.uk visitor, not the Ski Club of Great Britain. - skiclub.co.uk visitor (20 September 2007)
Learned to ski on the wide open pistes & easy trails of Le Tour/Vallorcine 14 years ago this Christmas and have returned just about every year since with wife & family to enjoy the delights and thrills of Argentiere.
Now we enjoy the extensive range & infinite variety of available skiing on-piste and off-piste throughout Chamonix Mont Blanc. Fantastic.

Looking forward to yet another trip to Chamonix to celebrate 20 years of mecca skiing. Best moguls, best off piste, best apres-ski atmosphere. Nothing beats the Vallee Blanche in t-shirt with its breathtaking views and the stories from an old ski guide. Give me Chamonix anytime.

Argentiere is the best place to ski, nothing beats the Grand Montet powder bowls, we monoski there when ever possible and eat drink and take away the FANTASTIC pizza from the STONE BAR ARGENTIERE, friendly, happy staff the perfect end to a day in the snow.

I'd say if you want your kids to ski Argentiere is great the Panda Club takes kids from 6 months to 12 years from 8:00AM until 18:00 (if you want) and play, ski, feed and entertain them. We've been going back for several years watching the kids graduate from kindergarden up to reds.

Please pop in to the Office Bar and judge for yourself whether the Rusticana really is more cosmopolitan, with our team of staff who speak eight different languages fluently, and come from eight differnet countries.

We have been to argentiere in january it will be the 3rd time this year and we have loved it every time. We have been skiing at le tour every year so far. We skied at grand monets and i found that scary because of you can't see over the drop to go down the mountain (once you are up there no way of coming down apart from skiing) - from the Coles family.
