ScotlandLecht Ski and Activity Centre

Lecht Ski and Activity Centre: reviews

  • Yvonne (15 December 2010)

If skiing at the Lecht top tip for hiring equipment : Go to Goodbrand Cafe at Corgarff about 5 miles from the Lecht it is a wooden building on the right as you approach the Lecht from the Strathdon side. Nice cafe and gift shop as well as ski and board hire - less of a queue there than at the Lecht.

This place is great for kids. The nursery slopes are great for the complete beginner. Also there is plenty of room for sledging (its free and you can use your own sledges). Cost £29 for 2x half day lift passes and 1 full equipt. hire. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The cafe is really nice with an outside balcony so you can watch your loved ones get snow in their ears and down their backs!!!!!! The facilities are very clean.

The snow isnt great for the more advanced but you cant blame anybody for that but the staff have worked very hard to get some of the slopes open. Needs more snow sooooooooooooonnnnn

My daughter is hooked now and can't wait to go again. I would definatley recommend the Lecht and we will be visiting it again soon.

I am a great fan of Scottish skiing, particularly as I love haggis. Anyway, I normally visit Glenshee three or four times a year, but in April 2006 I decided to try the Lecht. I had always been put off by the short runs and what seemed to be easy runs; however, I was very surprised when I arrived. The facilities, such as the restaurant and ticker area, are really attractive, clean and very simple to get around. The car park is just 60 seconds to the nearest lift and the staff are really friedly.

The runs are quite short; however, they all have a good width and seem to be well groomed. I did try a couple of the harder runs and, although being short, the lift system returns you quickly to the top so you dont waste time lift queing or searching. Snow quality was excellent. Highly recommend the Lecht for two or so days.

We have had only one day at the Lecht because we are closer to both Cairngorm and Nevis Range. The day we went both the bigger resorts were closed by wind. It is completely true that because the terrain is grassy you need very little snow to ski here. The runs are all very similar and short, but you can get a lot of skiing done. You have driven past Glenshee or Aviemore to get here so probably it is very windy or you are a beginner, or there is too little snow at these much rockier resorts.

We went to The Lecht about 1 year ago and were dissapointed when we got there to discover the lack of snow. BUT, despite this the skiing was fantastic which is amazing on basically no snow. The runs were superb and the cafe was brilliant with lovely food. All the slopes were short, but it had nice views and an amazingly good nursery area which got the whole family going!! Overall, a brilliant resort even when it has little snow so dont be put off if it says only a little snow!! We will return again and again as it is such a charming little place with amazing, easy runs, a good cafe and superb service. Brilliant!!
