Austria
The snow has not yet stopped falling in Austria. Stubai (350cm) reported 60cm of new snowfall on 17th May, and although this may be the greatest amount reported at our featured and open Austrian resorts, the others have not missed out. For example, Kaprun (270cm) reported 20cm of new snow landing over Wednesday 16th May, providing powder riding conditions on Thursday.
All of the ski slopes on the Dachstein Glacier (510cm) were closed on Thursday but fresh snow has fallen, improving the already great snow cover.
The weather at the end of this week is forecast to be predominantly sunny for the open Austrian skiing destinations, but clouds should move in for the start of next week bringing wet weather to lower areas. However, this could result in further fresh snowfall up on the glacier slopes.

Switzerland
Great riding could be enjoyed on the glacier slopes above Zermatt (170cm) on Thursday 17th May. There were seven red runs and two blue runs prepared for skiers and boarders. Clouds are expected before the weekend and fresh snow could fall on the upper slopes as a result.
Italy
The Presena Glacier (300cm) was open for skiing with fantastic sunny skies overhead on Thursday 17th May. There are two red runs and one black run groomed and open on the glacier. Clouds are forecast to move in over the resort next week and these could bring a good covering of new snow.
Cervinia and Val Senales are yet to open for their summer ski season.

North America
Blackcomb Mountain at Whistler (208cm) remains open until 28th May. Spring riding conditions dominate this week and the base depth up on the glacier has reduced by 54cm since Monday 14th May, but there is still plenty of snow for great late season riding. Cloudy weather is forecast over the weekend and into next week, which could drop a light cover of fresh snow on the Blackcomb slopes.
There’s still excellent spring skiing available at Timberline (381cm) in Oregon, America this week. Cloudy weather during this week has provided some flat light riding conditions but brighter skies are expected over the weekend.
