Snow overview for USA
Thursday 25 May 2017

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada, is currently closed as the team at the resort begin work shifting some of the remaining snow base to facilitate summer activities. The resort is due to partially reopen for skiing again on the 10th June.

Over on the west coast of the USA in Oregon, the base depth at Timberline (424cm) has been on a steady decline over the past couple of weeks. Temperatures at mid mountain level were at around +5C on Thursday 25th May, which is considerably lower than it has been this week. For those heading up, the resort has typically been running three lifts on a daily basis, and there has been some lovely corduroy snow early on in the morning which churns up as the day goes on.

Arapahoe Basin review

Like Loveland, just down the pass, a typical north American drive-in resort with minimal base facilities and a couple of on trail restaurants/cafes.
Do the double blacks off the right hand side of Pallavicini lift and have a great experience, not for the faint hearted, especially through the tight trees.
For open bowl skiing go up the Norway lift and cut a right along the Zuma cornice and drop into Montezuma Bowl,(opened jan 2008) all double blacks, but don't go too low, or you'll have to hike back up to the Zuma lift. Couple of straight forward pisted blues back down or go up to the right for blacks into the trees.
A dozen or so pisted runs are back on the front side providing skiing for all levels.
