Snow overview for Austria
Monday 26 June 2017

It was a warm day across Austria on Monday 26th June, with a mixture of sun and clouds for most resorts.

At Kaprun (70cm) the temperature reached +16C at mid mountain level, which allowed for skiing on soft snow across the open pistes.

Of our three other open Austrian resorts, Molltal Glaicer (280cm) currently boasts the best base depth, and was running three lifts on Monday.

Elsewhere, Pitzal is due to open for skiing on 1st July.

Hi, Visited Kitz w/b 25th February 2017. First of all this was a mistake because the Germans and Austrians are on school holidays so the week was very busy. The Monday was a bank holiday and I have never seen so many people on slopes !!! The town is wonderful and the slopes, in the morning when quiet are excellent. Beware looking at the web cams on this web site as the cameras are positioned high up in the mountain where there is snow. We had to take the lifts to the top of the mountain to ski and even though the "resort" run was open it was not a pleasant experience. It is advisable to take the lift back to the town. There is a good free bus service around the town. The Kitzbuheler Horn, on the other side of the town is worth a visit as it is very quiet. Apres ski is virtually non-existent and the town a bit sterile. However the restaurants are of exceptional quality and remarkably reasonably priced. Most of the restaurants don't take booking so be prepared to wait. Best restaurant was the "Centro" in the middle of town. We stayed at the cheapest accommodation, kolpinghaus apartments, these are very clean and staff were friendly. I would definitely ski in the area again, but I would not stay in the town as it lack atmosphere. This was a common comment by the majority of people we met.
