Snow overview for USA
Monday 22 December 2014

It has been dumping across the USA this weekend, with powder conditions reported in most resorts in Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. California has missed out, as has the east coast, but good skiing is still to be found in these areas following good snowfalls last week.

As of Monday morning, 22nd December, Arapahoe Basin (94cm) had received the greatest amount of new snow, with 48cm of powder reported. Other snowy spots included Alta (137cm) which saw 36cm, Snowbird (127cm) that recorded 41cm and Loveland (89cm) that received 37cm. Excellent powder conditions will be found all week as temperatures should remain cold and more snow is predicted to fall.

Monday 22nd December dawned warm and windy across California, affecting lift operations and softening the pistes. Squaw Valley (114cm) had 20 lifts operational and Mammoth (70/122cm) had 21 lifts turning.

Over on the east coast some good skiing was available over the weekend and into the Christmas week. Sunday River (51cm) were running 10 lifts and Killington (40/60cm) had 13 lifts spinning.

The snow is forecast to continue during the Christmas week in Colorado and Utah, accompanied by cold temperatures. Up to a further 30-40cm is forecast, so conditions over Christmas should be epic. California should see a welcome drop of snow on Christmas Eve. On the east coast warmer weather is unfortunately due to spill in for Christmas, bringing with it some rainfall.

Skied Mammoth 25 March 2006. Fantastic skiing on a massive mountain, snowed for four days out of six dumped four feet one day. Be prepared for lots of wind although they close the top of the mountain to wind and avalanche blasting. There is still loads to ski. Cheap place to eat and drink lakanaki hawian bar at the village happy hour 3.30-6.00 - 6 buds and food 16 dollars awesome. If you want to know more go to the offical Mammoth web site click on forums and you can find every thing you want.
