Snow overview for USA
Thursday 30 March 2017

Varied conditions for the American ski fields today, Thursday 30th March. Conditions on piste remain good to excellent right around America as winter still holds its grip on many resorts. It may say spring on the calendar but you wouldn’t believe it looking at the ski resorts in Colorado. Today’s conditions were a light wintery mix of cloud and snow and some rain. Tomorrow is currently forecast to see very heavy snowfall in Colorado and Utah, light snow is expected in California. More generally around the U.S cloudy conditions will dominate the weekend.

The spring is here, although it seems the winter conditions will remain for at least another week.

Think the overview is a little out of date now. There is a large and typical US "Village" at the bottom of the slopes. Lots of accommodation, bars, shops and restaurants all in a pedestrianised setting surrounded by the mountains. Lots of skiing. Run back to the village a little soft in the afternoon, but stay high there is plenty of choice. Very different from a European ski holiday. Après ski If you want it in the Village, but not as extensive or noisy as most Alpine Resorts. Evening revolves more around restaurants, and a car is a necessity. Lake Tahoe is beautiful and the views of the lake reflecting the mountains are worth the visit alone.
