Snow overview for USA
Monday 27 March 2017

Monday 27th March was a day of mostly mixed precipitation across America. Spring conditions are bringing spring storms to our featured resorts. On piste conditions still remain good however with soft forgiving and slushy snow to be found in abundance. Off-piste is becoming increasingly limited.

In the forecast cloudy stormy conditions a set to remain this week, some excellent snowfalls are expected in Colorado in the next 72 hours.

1.40 to the $ makes it much more expensive than recent years but these tips should help. 1. The earlier one buys the lift pass the cheaper it gets. Don't leave it until you arrive. The summer is cheapest. In resort price is $134 a day... you can easily get it down to $79 on a BOGOF deal if you search.2. Look out for local Groupon deals 3. If you haven't done any of this, local supermarkets in Denver, on the way up and in places like Boulder offer "Front range" deals. WP is the place where Denver locals come to ski and there are deals to attract them in. 4. The hotels do lodging and lift pass deals if you aren't doing a UK package (so easy to take Amtrak from Denver to WP, you don't need a car and the glass roofed carriage gives great views . The ski train no longer runs.)

There isn't a lot going on at either the base or down town WP (less than a mile but a regular shuttle, not sure how late it runs) except at w/e's. Most excitement is happy hour which runs from 3 or 4pm at most establishments. (Until 6pm usually) Don't forget to drink plenty of water, and go down to a lower level if you get a headache or feel sick (possibly altitude sickness, base is higher here than the top of most European resorts). You will probably have no appetite at all for the first few days -I was sharing a soup for lunch!!!

I didn't take any photos - plenty online and it was too cold to take my gloves off!! But I had a great time, even if we had to get inside more than usual to get warm, and my skiing has improved loads.
