The Ski Club of Great Britain and Snow+Rock raise nearly £3,000 for Disability Snowsport UK
A series of events held at the beginning of the ski season, organised by Snow+Rock and the Ski Club of Great Britain has raised £2947 for Disability Snowsport UK.
Monies raised from a one off lecture by freeskiing legend Chris Davenport, held last October at the Royal Geographical Society, and a series of 'Prepare for Snow' talks, which took place in Snow+Rock stores around the UK during the early part of the season, will be presented to Disability Snowsport UK (disabilitysnowsport.org.uk) at the official opening of The Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead on Tuesday 5th May 2009.
Disability Snowsport UK's aim is that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsports. They provide life enhancing activities for individuals or groups who require adaptive equipment and/or special instruction and support to ski or snowboard.
Caroline Stuart Taylor, Chief Executive of the Ski Club of Great Britain said, "We are delighted to be able to give this sum of money to Disability Snowsport UK. They work tirelessly to ensure that skiers and snowboarders with a disability are able to ski as equals at all ski facilities and resorts. We are also happy we can support the British Disabled Ski Team in their quest for success at the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010."
Kevin Young, Head of Marketing for Snow+Rock said, "We are avid supporters of Disability Snowsport UK, along with our sponsored disabled skier Sean Rose, and we're thrilled that they can benefit from the success of the events we organised"
