The Ski Club of Great Britain’s ultimate family guide for half term ski holidays

For families heading out to the slopes for their half term ski holiday, the Ski Club of Great Britain has come up with the ultimate guide.

Before you go
Check you have all the right kit for your children. Vital bits of kit for the kids include a helmet, goggles (they fit better than sunglasses over helmets), lots of layers, mittens, snow boots and high factor sunscreen.
Check out how far your accommodation is from the slopes or ski school meeting points – and see what transport options are available if you need them. Resort maps on the Ski Club website should help.
Check the snow report for your resort before you head out so you know whether you'll have to wrap up warm or enjoy a week of sunshine.

When you're there
The Ski Club has a range of insider tips for skiing with the kids, including...
Consider making packed lunches each day for the family. This will significantly cut costs.
Pop some sweets in your child's pockets to keep energy levels up (remember chocolate tends to melt)
Make sure your children drink plenty of water, because dehydration will make them feel tired.

Once you're back
Start thinking about booking for next year to get the resort or accommodation you want. The Ski Club website lists all the school holiday dates and will flag up any early bird booking offers in the latest ski news.
If you are thinking about venturing to another resort have a look at the Ski Club's top recommendations on family-friendly resorts.
A comprehensive guide to family skiing and skiing with children, as well as many other aspects of ski holidays, can be found on the Ski Club of Great Britain website in the Info & Advice area –
