Pleasant little village with 30km of shady intermediate slopes on Grubigstein, and a pass giving access to a variety of other areas in the locality, including the towering (and glacial) Zugspitze, on the border with Germany. The slopes offer splendid views of the mountain. The village is compact, with good family-friendly hotels. Fast lifts go from both ends, serving some worthwhile descents - including a fine black run and an area of ready-made moguls. The runs below mid-mountain are worthwhile blues and reds, with good nursery slopes at village level. Lots of cross-country trails along the flat valley.
