Maria Alm Ski Resort
There's 120km of linked slopes, an impressive lift system and a great sense of travel when you ski at the resort of Maria Alm.
Maria Alm is located at the far western end of the Hochkönig and since 2018/19 it has been linked via Natrun to the rest of the ski area. As a result, it is now possible to make the most of the opportunity to ski sweeping blues and reds all the way to the town of Mühlbach – a distance of around 15km as the crow flies. There are few resorts that offer this sense of travel, plus the lift system is fantastic so you'll spend your time being whisked up on slick gondolas or fast chairs.
Maria Alm, though small, is one of the two largest villages in the area and is a pretty place with a splendid old church boasting the highest spire in Salzburgerland. There's some brilliant cross country trails in the vicinity and lots of walking, ensuring the resort is a great place for non-skiers too. The transfer is quick from Salzburg, taking around 1 hour.
