Hi, I have been a rep for over 22 years and have skied/snowboarded in numerous resorts all over the alps. I have lived and worked in Switzerland at times and so lucky to visit many lesser known ski resorts both in winter and summer. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with you and maybe an adventure or two!
I was lucky to start skiing whilst still at school. I was even more fortunate to quit the rat race at a fairly young age (dont ask). I took the new found freedom to become a Ski Club Rep and have had many fantastic trips ever since, both in Europe and North America.
I have a winter season 20/21 full of great plans as usual. Zermatt in December. Obergurgl in January with the ski club. Japan in February. A return to Canazei in Italy with the club in early March and then straight on to Pontresina and Zermatt. As to whether any of these plans come to reality only time will tell. I fear that just as with my travel plans during the summer there could be a lot of changes pushing plans a year forward! However, lets hope things get better and we all get some skiing.
Anyone that knows Obergurgl will know where my profile picture was taken. This was Christmas Day 2019.
Things will be different this year I'm sure but hopefully we will be skiing in Obergurgl again this season. I will be out a little later this year so whilst I will miss the Christmas regulars, I am looking forward to skiing with a new group in January.
I've always loved skiing since first going as a teenager on a school trip. I've skied almost every year since but only ever for a couple of weeks a year. It never seemed like enough, so last year I worked for a season as a rep for a tour operator in Sölden. I discovered my favourite bit of the job was leading groups out on the mountain. One of my guests turned me onto the Ski Club and recommended the leaders course. Now here I am, excited to get out on the mountain with you all!
Oustide of skiing, I've spend most of the last few years riding my bicycle around the world. Before that, it seems like a lifetime ago, I used to work as a software engineer. Haven't decided on the next chapter yet, but one thing I am sure of: It's going to include plenty of mountain time.
I have been skiing for over 35 years and attended the Leaders Course in 1992. Since then I have led Ski Club groups in many countries and particularly Austria and France in recent years.
This year I am looking forward to seeing many old friends and making new ones in Obergurgl and Les Arcs and Bad Hofgastein. Repping for the ski club this season will be a little different but hopefully equally enjoyable.
I love the mountain environment and walking in the mountains in the summer. In recent years I completed the Haute Route across the Swiss Alps and the 3 Yorkshire Peaks which was a bit easier.
I also play tennis and contract bridge.
I love to ski so that's good then. 2019 is turning out to be a great season . Being a Leader to me means visiting great resorts, getting to know ski mad members and showing them a good time on the slopes. I like bumps, I like steeps and I love powder. Whether cruising blues or descending reds, there is nothing I like more than the happy look on members faces after a good day on the snow
Seems I have only managed 4 stars which is not bad but want to go for the 5 star approval this year ;-)! Always good to have a goal.
I am looking forward to meeting ski friends old and new!
