Snow overview for Canada

19 March 2018

There has been some impressive snowfall recorded across Alberta for mid-March, with 33cm falling over the weekend in Lake Louise (165/217cm), while Marmot Basin (148cm) saw 29cm over the time period. These resorts are also seeing some of the lower temperatures reported across Western Canada, staying closer to -10C than 0, allowing the new snow to stay in optimal conditions.  British Columbia however has missed out somewhat with more moderate amounts of 6cm in Kicking Horse (209cm) being less headline worthy amounts. Others, such as Fernie (332cm) and Kimberley (151cm) now going around two weeks without noteworthy snow. Here, spring has truly arrived in terms of temperatures, with day temperatures sitting above freezing in many resorts.

Quebec once again has experienced much colder conditions, dropping as low as -15C in Mont Sainte Anne (50/136cm) and -14C in Trembland (60cm). These low temperatures are at least coupled with brighter days to make conditions more bearable.
