Skiing Today

Another sunny day in the mountain meant cruising the blues. We focused on Crystal area in the morning as its shaded aspect keeps the snow. We popped into 7th Heaven, but the freeze thaw made for terrible conditions. After lunch we headed high to the t bar and a rub down the glacier at the end of the day.

Snow overview for Canada

30 April 2018

With 40cm over the past 48 hours, there seems to be little sign of a change in conditions in Whistler after the snow recorded in the resort in the past 20 years. The resort is fully operational and although warm weather delivered rain at resort level, once you climb to higher altitudes there is plenty of fresh snow to be found. Although there has been substantially less snow elsewhere in British Columbia, there has been consistent light dustings over the past few days to keep the slopes in great shape. It’s expected to warm up across the province over the short term with no new snow currently forecast until mid-next week, with sunny skies and the mercury sitting above freezing in most cases.

There are also packed powder conditions across resorts in both Banff and Marmot Basin, with the former having seen sunny days sitting slightly below freezing. Almost all trails bar a handful of the expert level routes were open on Friday 11th.

Conditions in Quebec were looking fantastic this week thanks to a good level of snowfall across both Tremblant and Mont Sainte Anne thanks to the same storm front on the east coast of North America. This saw powder conditions over the past two days, including a substantial 25cm+ dump on Wednesday. The weekend is forecast to be clearer yet cold, before staying cloudy while getting further still moving into the following week.
