The best snowfall over the weekend fell in the most northerly resorts in the French Alps, with Flaine seeing almost 80cm there, offering great conditions among the trees in the Grand Massif. The Portes Du Soleil also saw half a metre, welcome news especially for the lower laying resorts that typically suffer from challenging conditions in the best of times.
Further south, the amount of snow slowly diminished, with a more moderate but still worthwhile 20cm in Tignes, though nothing at all reported in the southern French Alps, across resorts including Serre Chevalier, where pistes continue to be hard packed and somewhat challenging off piste.
Tuesday and Wednesday are likely to be both calm and mild – some bright days a welcome respite from the weekend of snowfall and high winds. Beyond that though, there is expected to be a return of more cloudy, though not heavily snow-filled conditions, at least in the more Northerly French resorts.
