If you were impressed with the amount of snow that is due to fall in Austria this week then you’ll be seriously impressed with the amount of snow forecast in France for this week. Meribel will see a mammoth 237cm of snow over the next 6 days! The resorts where under 1m of snow will fall are in the minority.
Conditions in the Three Valleys have not been at their best at the beginning of the season but with the heavy snow forecast in all three valleys, conditions could quickly catch up the Espace Killy which has seen the pick of the early season conditions in France so far. Four more lifts opened up in the area over the weekend. Snow storms are due to provide much of the snow that will fall across the Alps this week and as a result it is possible that higher areas in the Three Valleys and Espace Killy could close at some point this week.
Flaine is due to open on Saturday and it will see a heavy dump of snow this week just in time to ensure that some great skiing will be on offer by then. Chamonix and Alpe d’Huez opened over the weekend just gone and at the moment they have five and 24 lifts open respectively. The heavy snow forecast for this week will lead to some potentially fantastic skiing over the festive season.
